Now, moving onto the Saturday Home Showcase... Today instead of featuring an individual person's home I wanted to feature the HGTV Dream Home that you can actually enter to win at HGTV.com

 

I personally prefer more of a vintage inspired eclectic artsy style in my home, but if I were to win this home I certainly wouldn't turn it down.

I love the exposed beams.

I normally hate modern kitchens, but this one actually isn't that bad.

I would love to have these chairs in my dinning room.

I want that cream colored dresser!  Also, look at that beautiful clock down the hall.

I'm not a huge fan of this family room but I do like the 2 arm chairs.

Love the paint color in this sitting room.

I really like the carpet in the master bedroom, and wouldn't it be awesome to have your own little enclosed sunroom directly off from your bedroom.

Awesome tub in the master bath and beautiful bedspread in the bedroom below.

Simple Handmade Valentine's

I wanted to share the cute little Valentine's Felicity and I made this week. 

They are made from paper doilies (bought from Wal Mart), handmade paper medallions (Click Here to go to my tutorial on how to make them) and free printable Valentine's Day artwork from http://afancifultwist.typepad.com/a_fanciful_twist/ (Her blog is amazing - love looking at her beautiful pictures and work) and then we also added some glitter to jazz them up a little.

We made some of the paper medallions out of paper sacks.

...and the other paper medallions were made from scrapbook paper.

Until we give out the Valentine's we used a straight pin to hang them onto some strips of lace in the dinning room to display them.

We had some leftover paper medallions that I think we will use with paper doilies, lace and chipboard letters to make seating labels for the Valentine Brunch Party Felicity is having this weekend.

I have been working on making some things for a Valentine's Day party Felicity is having and after making a bunch of these little paper medallions today I decided to snap some pictures of the process and share it with you.

You start with a strip of paper (if you are using 12x12 scrapbook paper cut in into 3 strips), I also like to use paper sacks a lot for things, to make a medallion out of theme take a small paper sack and cut out one entire side of it.

Fold the entire strip of paper back and forth accordian style, making good creases.  It can be hard to get good creases in heavy cardstock, which is why I prefer to use lighter paper or nice paper sacks.

Once the entire strip is folded accordian style fold it in half and make a good crease in the center.

Then reverse and fold the other direction making the crease on both sides.

Then fold back up and glue the top center ends of the paper together.

The fold the botton half back down along the crease you already made and glue the ends together.

Now you have a paper medallion that can be used for all kinds of projects.  I will share tomorrow what I am doing with the paper medallions I am making.  But here are some neat ideas for things other people have used paper medallions for.

Martha Stewart's team made these large paper medallion and hung as decorations for a party.

This Christmas ornament from http://www.pattystamps.typepad.com/ has a small paper medallion incorporated into the design.

This unique 4th of July wreath by Shelterness.com is made with patriotic paper medallions.

DIY Fabric Wall Art

Today I wanted to share one of my most recent little decorating projects.  I have been wanting to add some more color into the little wall space between my living room window and door.  Well, I was at Hobby Lobby and saw some beautiful fabric on sale that I knew would look perfect in the room so I bought it and made this super simple DIY Wall Art.

I put the the fabric into embroidery hoops purchased from Donna Dream Catchers & Vintage Goods on Etsy and then hung the hoops on the wall and it looks wonderful.  What I love is that whenever I get tired of these fabrics I can change it out with a new fabric or a seasonal print and get all new wall art for very little expense.

Cost of the project: I paid $8 for the hoops and around $10 for the fabric so the total was only $18.

Also had to share a few pictures of a couple of our newest little models showing off some new stuff on our site....

Saturday Home Showcase - Martha Stewart

Now to the Saturday Home Showcase.  This Saturday I wanted to showcase the home of someone whose magazines I've read and shows I've watched since I was a young teenager  - Martha Stewart.

Martha has a few different homes and you can see tours of all of them at http://www.marthastewart.com/ - On her website you can also read her blog which I check regularly to learn about her gardens and projects and other things that often inspire me to work on my own home.

 

I love how she keeps all these cooking utensils out and handy in multiple containers that are all different but still tie together because they are the same color.

Love that these bar stools are different sizes - I like the interesting look it creates.

This is actually a vintage Dentrist medical tool case!  It looks so cool with the crystal knobs.  This is from an old appartment of Martha's in New York City.

This is Martha's fabuous craft room in one of her homes - it would be my dream to have a craft room like this in home.

LOVE these plants and Martha's beautiful cat!

Is this a beautiful garden or what?  Of course you would expect nothing less from Martha's garden.

Food Friday - Reese's Banana & Rolled Eggs

Now onto Food Friday where I love to feature awesome food find that are always easy to prepare and at least "somewhat" healthy.

When I saw these Frozen Reese's Bananas on RealSimple I had to try them immediately and I was not disappointed.  It's so easy:
1)Cut banana in half and freeze  2)Chop up some Reese's and freeze them too 3)then take the banana out of freezer and dip it in melted chocolate (I used some cheap baker's chocolate) and then immediately cover in the chopped up frozen Reese's  4) Set out on parchment until the chocolate has gotten firm

This week I also found this Rolled Egg & Spinach Omlet on Martha Stewart's website.  It looks super healthy, delicious and simple enough to make.  I will certainly be trying it soon.  Click Here to get the recipe.

Last, I can't resist sharing this pic of my mom's 6 months old Boxer - his name is Harley.

As my Mom said when she posted this pic on Facebook, "Harley spent the day at the Vet's office & he is now pouting because he will never be a Father."  Harley is a good dog, as are most Boxers.  We had two when I was in high school and they were both really lovable, goofy dogs.
