Denim Pocket Purse from my Old Jeans

I've had a couple posts about making things with old denim jeans lately.... well, here is the latest little simple thing Felicity and I did.  We used a pocket from an old pair of my jeans to make a cute little girl purse.

I just cut around the pocket on the jeans, completely removing the front and back of the pocket, leaving all seams attached so that the sides and bottom were closed up.

Then I hot glued each end of a long strand of lace inside of it giving her a little handle.  Felicity loves her little purse.  She likes to carry little toys and snacks and things in it and sometimes she just carries it by itself.  I love how sometimes the simplest little things can make a toddler so happy!

Her hair is also finally long enough to do pig-tails!  She used to not like me messing with her hair but now she loves me fixing it up like this.  There are bows like the ones in her hair available in my online store: www.InspiredByFelicity.com

Here's another shot of her running around with her pocked purse, unfortunately the pic caught the back-side of it which isn't quite as pretty.

Her are links to some other children's things I've made with my old jeans lately.

  1. what a cute idea! I have a little 3 year old girl who would love to have her very own purse -especially if she could help make it! Might have to do this and let her add some "bling" or decorations to it too. Thanks for sharing

My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing months of hard work due
to no backup. Do you have any solutions to protect against hackers?

  16. Great little purse and just the right size for a 3 yr. old. I'm helping a fifth grader make a denim purse out of the top of the jean. This way there are two pockets on the outside. Then it is easy to sew a flap and snap over the top of the pocket to keep small things in. We are also embroidering on the outside pocket to give it more unickness. She can't wait to finish and take it to school next Fall.
