Now on to food.....
My eating habits are not perfect but nutrition is a pretty big deal to me. White flour and white bread are not allowed in my house, I don't have any white refined sugar in my cabinets and things like crisco and margarine are banned from my kitchen.
I appreciate simple (if it has more than 8 ingredients I probably won't cook it) and healthy foods. Although I often indulge in stuff I shouldn't eat!
Berries with Balsamic Vinegar & Brown Sugar
This is my new fav snack when I'm craving something sweet. I got this from Martha Stewart's website a while back and love it. You just throw together whatever berries you have and sprinkle with a little brown sugar and toss with a very small amount of balsamic vinegar.
I love avacados and am always trying to find something new to do with them. Last night I put together this simple little toasted meal. I put some swiss cheese, avacado and sliced tomatoes on whole grain bread then put it in the oven until the bread was lightly toasted and everything was warm and delicious!
Here's Felicity eating her avacado and tomatoes. She loves avacados, spinach, asparagus and all kinds of other things most kids don't like. When she was a baby she loved avacado so much that the only way I could get her to eat the baby rice cereal was to mix it with avacado then put it all back in the avacado shell and feed it to her out of that!
Coming Up: Saturday Home Showcase & Mommy Monday
I am so hungry now. Thanks for the ideas! (Well, not the baby food for me. But the others look tempting.)
ReplyDeleteThat sandwich looks wonderful! I love avacados and I don't think I have ever bought one at the grocery. You may have inspired me to do so.
ReplyDeleteYour baby is adorable!

Simple is good! Warming up the sandwich sounds like a great idea. I try to eat healthy, too, but I fail pretty often!
ReplyDeleteDarn, now I am hungry. Simple, but good- nothing beats that! I am going to have to try that berries recipe.

A huge Thank You to you and your husband for serving!
ReplyDeleteFelicia is quite a cutie! Those berries look soooo good! When my sweet tooth acts up, I go for the fruit...well most times. Love avocados too.
Your baby is adorable! Keep on feeding her the good foods and hopefully she will stay healthier than my generation which was brought up on processed, overly refined sugar and flours.
