My First Earthquake

Last night I experienced my first EARTHQUAKE - which is crazy since I live in Oklahoma.  I was sitting in my chair working on my Etsy listings when the whole house started to shake, the light fixtures began to sway back and forth and my china cabinet began rattling loudly as a couple things fell off the walls.  My first thought was "The world is ending!", I ran and snatched up my daughter who had just woke from a sound sleep while my adrenaline was pumping and my heart was beating out of my chest.  After the shaking stopped I got on Facebook and learned we had just experienced a 5.6 earthquake.
Shaken as I was I still couldn't help but wonder if "The Rapture" hadn't just occurred and I had been left behind, so I quickly checked the pages of some ministers and hard core Christians and saw they were updating their status so I figured the second coming hadn't happened, unless there is a way to update your facebook status from heaven.

Anyway we made it through with no interior damage and now that the sun is up we're about to go outside and check the outside of the house for cracks in the brick.  End of story is, next Sunday, this Christian family (that hasn't been to church in almost 2 years) will be taking up our old place in the church pew again.

I couldn't jump out of bed fast enough. -- it was my first experience too so I didnt know what the hell was going on.. I hear that there has been over 200 after stocks since then... scary stuff.. but good to hear you're okay!!

  3. I am amazed this is your first one ever. I have experienced so many, I have lost track of them. They get easier. Good to hear you and your family are ok.

  4. It's so weird when earthquakes happen in unexpected places. We had one in Chicago about a year ago, and it was bizarre!

Just saw your other post about the crack in your house. I hope everything is fine!
